Protecting your right to practice Interior Design in Georgia.

The Georgia Alliance of Interior Design Professionals is a not for profit legislative coalition of Interior Designers in the state of Georgia.

We fight to secure the right to practice Interior Design in the state of Georgia and unify professional industry members to respond to any legislation or initiatives which may impact the practice of Interior Design in the state of Georgia.

“GAIDP works diligently with our legislative lobbyist to fulfill the goal of serving as the “eyes and ears” at the capitol for Georgia's Interior Design community. Membership is important so that you can add the weight of your voice and vote, reinforcing the message that our legislators have a constituency that seeks their support in protecting the rights and privileges of interior designer professionals in the State of Georgia.”

Capitol Day 2023

Members of Georgia Alliance of Interior Designers (GAIDP) headed to the Georgia State Capitol on March 9, 2023 to participate in our annual GAIDP Capitol Day event.  GAIDP lobbyist, The Hudson Group lead by Brian Hudson, arranged for us to meet with some of our legislators.

During last year’s session, GAIDP successfully pursued legislation to add ‘registered interior designer’ to the existing Lien Law to align with other registered professionals already protected by the law.  We were able to thank Representative Dale Washburn for sponsoring the bill and Representative Calvin Smyre for supporting the bill to include registered interior designers in the Lien Law. This law is very impactful and will help protect registered interior designers.

GAIDP would like to thank Brian Hudson and The Hudson Group for their continued support and commitment to GAIDP!

We’ve got your back

GAIDP’s professional lobbyist team, the Hudson Group, drafted the Lien Law that was signed in early 2020 by Governor Kemp. Before this law, Interior Designers were the only registered design professionals excluded from the lien law protections in Georgia.

The lien law allows contractors, tradesman, suppliers, bankers, attorneys, architects, engineers, landscape architects, foresters and now registered interior designers, to establish a lien; a claim of the title of land or a structure, for value of their services; labor or product provided that increases the value of the real estate.

"As a professional Interior Designer, I rely on GAIDP to keep me informed about any legislation that will affect my right to practice interior design in the State of Georgia. Their advocacy for legislation is imperative to our practice now and in the future."
